Transparency check, part 3

Our school district (commendably) puts its meetings on video and makes them available through its website. They are very up-to-date, and even have the most recent meeting, held on August 13, available for viewing. Yet there is one conspicuous gap in the list of available videos: the school board meeting held on July 23, when five board members – including current board candidate Karla Cook – voted to approve the plan to close Hoover School. What possible reason could there be for not having that video available, over a month later?

No Way that is absolutely INSANE...I can't imagine I wouldn't have audiotaped it...at minimum the board recording secretary also digitally audio records each meeting...WTF!

These two will blow you away though...listen to the mission creep that happened at Twain without being taken in front of the board for approval. It's in two parts and I have still not recovered sufficiently from the shock of what this administration proceeded with, beyond the scope of the original RFP, WITHOUT TAKING IT IN FRONT OF THE BOARD FOR APPROVAL. Up to and including the awardee of the RFP, shocker here - it's Shive Hattery, actually going out and hiring another "costing consultant" to tell us what the change orders will cost on this puppy. You know damn well that air conditioning in the high poverty schools is number one on my list, but this goes so far beyond that original goal before even addressing air at the other older schools, it is unconscionable:

Thanks, Julie -- I've been hearing about that, but have been too swamped with other obligations to follow up on it. Are you saying that they are making improvements to Twain that go beyond what's in the long-term plan? I don't mind if it's just a question of Twain getting its improvements first, but if it's above and beyond what's in the long-term plan, then presumably something else has to be cut, and you'd wonder what.
